This is my sister and her beautiful family. It wasn't easy trying to get two babies to look at you for longer then 2 seconds. I think we still got at least a few keepers though.

Pretty girls in pettis

I've been dying to take some pictures in my new pettis. My sister is town this week so I took advantage and borrowed her girls for a shoot.

My very 1st macro attempts

I couldn't choose between color & B&W so I decided, what the heck, I'll post them both.





Okay, so I know these are a pretty lame attempt at macro photography. I don't have a macro lens, so I just used one that's got a so-called macro setting. But I love macro photography and would so love to become good at it. So hopefully, the next time I post some macro pictures, there will be marked improvement. If any pros out there happen to see this post, advice would be fabulous!!!

Before & After

I've had some people ask me to give them some photoshop tips, which is so funny to me because I am so new to photography and photoshop. But anyways, I thought I'd post a sooc (straight out of camera) shot before and after I've edited. FYI, I'm no photoshop pro AT ALL! But, I have spent countless hours lately, playing around in photoshop to improve my pictures. This isn't the best picture in the world, but I love that I got a real smile outta that boy (and I haven't posted very many of Mase lately and feel kinda bad about that. He's tough one to photograph these days.

I use Photoshop elements 5.0 right now, however I think I may be upgrading soon. Yay! Okay, so if you've never used photoshop before, this will all probably sound like a foreign language to you, but here I go.......I 1st duplicated the layer and changed it to screen layer. I lowered the opacity to around 80%. I then flattened the layers and duplicated again. This time, I ran it as a hardlight layer at 20% and flattened again. After that, I bumped up the saturation 6%. I then sharpened just the eyes, and ran Ren's defog action at 75%. To top it off, I burned the edges to give it a more finished look. It's a lot of steps, I know. Editing takes a lot of time. And, every picture I edit needs a little something different. But, I believe that every picture can use some tweaking to look even better. I hope that helps anyone who was wondering what I do.

These are my 8 month old nephews. They are such sweet babies. They're just starting to get around by themselves and are trying to be independent. My sister sure has her hands full!

The beach

We stopped and had dinner at a restaurant by the ocean in New Jersey. The beach is so pretty. I wish we had one close to us. I took a few pictures of my sister and her daughter. I love beach photos!

St. Paul's Chapel

This church is right across from the World Trade Center. It is so old and so pretty. It looks so out of place amongst all the big modern buildings. I couldn't help but take a few pictures of it. Some of the tombstones date back to the 16th century. There are even Revolutionary war veterans buried there. It's amazing that it wasn't hurt on the September 11th attacks on the WTC. Pretty cool.

How cute is she!

I spotted this little girl when we were in FAO Schwartz. I mentioned to my mom that I'd love to photograph her because she was so gorgeous. Her whole family was beautiful. I wasn't about to ask her parents if I could take a picture though. Well, leave it to my mom. She marched herself right over to her dad while I was looking for a doll for Lily, and asked if I could take a few shots. The lighting in the store was horrible, but they managed to turn out okay, considering. I would love to have a full session with this little cutie!
