Hello, and welcome to my blog. I'm a natural light photographer living in the Boise, Idaho area with my husband and 5 kids. I enjoy capturing images of all kinds, but I am truly in love with photographing newborn babies. The first days of life are precious and magical and so very fleeting. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have at info@LauraFarrisPhotgraphy.com. Thank you for visiting my little corner of the web :)

Fresh from a nap

Stella woke up from her nap the other day to find my friends Audrey and Alison with their babies at our house. She wasn't sure what to think of it. And since she was still a little groggy and quite docile from her nap I decided to plop her up on a stool and see if I could get a couple of pictures of her at 13 1/2 months. She's been so hard to photograph lately that I never did try a formal shoot at 13 months. So, this is what I ended up with.

Pretty darn cute.

My new neighbors

How lucky am I that my new neighbor just happened to have had a beautiful baby girl two weeks ago?! I was so excited for her to come visit while I played with my new camera and got to know her Mama. Jazlyn slept so well for me and they were in and out in a little over an hour. Thanks so much Erica. I hope you love these!!!

My boys & my new Nikon D700

It seems like I'm always photographing our girls lately and Mason & Bo get left out most of the time. Not that they mind. They'd much rather stay at home with their Pop. But every once in a while they've gotta take their turn modeling for their Mama. They always end up having fun and are glad they came. Especially when we stop for ice cream on the way home. That's always the funnest part of our outings.

And these are some of the very 1st images taken with my new Nikon D700. I'm trying to get used to the camera and the many differences between Canon & Nikon, but I think these turned out pretty well for my 1st Nikon shoot. I'll be selling my Canon gear soon and I'll post all about that when I get some extra time. Now, on to my boys.

And one shot of little Kali, Audrey's adorable baby. What a sweet little thing.

Thank you Emily and Audrey for the fun night and for taking these of me and my boys! I had tons of fun!!!

Innocence

Okay, so I know I've been sharing so many pictures of Lily lately. She's been really fun to photograph and I've been taking advantage of her willingness to model. I love this age so much. Just about everything that comes out of her mouth is funny and makes us laugh. She's really trying to figure out the world and her place in it. She's still so purely innocent and far from obnoxious at this point in her childhood and I love every minute I get to spend with her. I love you my sweet girl.

A couple of my favorites from the 4th of July.

Lily looks so much like her Pop. Their profiles are so similar.

Summertime

I am really enjoying the warm weather lately. I'm trying to take advantage of the beautiful warm summer light while I can. And Lily has been so good to me lately too. She's turned into a wonderful model ever since she turned 3 and I love it. We had a fun evening out with my friend Emily last week and found some really fun new spots.

Lilah

What a sweet little lady. And even though she wasn't a big fan of the camera, I managed to snap lots of keepers. So here's Lilah, a beautiful girl with the prettiest name.

The beautiful Miss Tylee

I don't usually photograph older babies, but I wasn't super busy this past month so I decided it would be fun to do a little something different. I'm so glad I did because Tylee was so much fun to photograph. She was such a happy little girl and so gorgeous too.

For anyone interested in booking a baby session, please keep in mind that the best time to photograph your baby is when he/she can sit up on their own but before they are able to crawl away from the camera. That's usually sometime between 6-8 months.
