Hello, and welcome to my blog. I'm a natural light photographer living in the Boise, Idaho area with my husband and 5 kids. I enjoy capturing images of all kinds, but I am truly in love with photographing newborn babies. The first days of life are precious and magical and so very fleeting. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have at info@LauraFarrisPhotgraphy.com. Thank you for visiting my little corner of the web :)

The "K" family

What a cute family this is! We went to the train depot for this shoot and boy was it crowded. I've never seen so many people there before. It was a nice warm October evening and with all the colors changing, I wasn't too surprised. I'm just glad we ended up getting some shots that didn't have people in the background. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

2 weeks old : Meridian Idaho newborn photographer

When I found out Noelle was pregnant and due at the beginning of September, I was so super excited about being able to do some newborn pictures outside because it would still be so warm at that time of year. So when Josie was just 2 weeks old, Noelle and I packed up the car with lots of fun outdoor props and took off downtown. Josie had been up for several hours by the time we got there and we thought, surely she'll sleep like a baby. So I set everything up while Noelle tried to get Josie to sleep. Tried is the key word there. She just wasn't havin it. We tried 3 different locations, getting her in and out of the car 3 times and setting props up 3 times. Finally at the last place we tried, she let us at least put her in a basket for a minute without crying. We only got ONE picture. After all that. We came away with one picture. But at least Noelle got a shot for her announcement. I've been waiting to post this picture until after the birth announcements had been sent so I wouldn't spoil it. So, here is. The one good picture we got that night.

This is what the rest of the pictures from that night look like......

Chloe & Gracie

These two little cuties are my nieces. I took them for a shoot on an evening that turned out to be pretty cold. After about 5 minutes, they were ready to go. I had to bribe them with ice cream to get them agree to a few more pictures. They are both such dolls. They have the most beautiful eyes. Thanks for letting me borrow your girls Annie!

I got LOTS of funny faces from these two little girls. Some say, "are you serious?" and some say, "get me out of here, I'm freezing!" I love them all though!

Mason & a new spot

I've driven by this field a thousand times and never thought much of it until the other day when it dawned on me that it would probably make for some cool shots. So, on the way to my mom's house for dinner last night, I had Ross pull over so I could take some shots of Mason. He's usually my easiest kid to photograph but he was a little tougher last night. Oh, to only have a willing subject............

The soon to be Mrs. White

I had my first bridal session last week. And no, that does not mean I'm going to start doing weddings for those of you who are wondering. I don't think weddings are my niche. But bridals are a little like senior pictures, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You'll look beautiful Caitlin!

This one kind of reminded me of an old wedding picture, so I wanted to try something different on it. She looks like such a classic bride.

So cute!

I went out tonight for a little shoot with my good friend Audrey. I took two of my nieces and Audrey took her little girl, Abbey. After I finished up with my little girls and they were thawing out in the car (it got pretty darn cold tonight) I took a few shots of Abbey. I had to share just one. Isn't she a doll! That huge grin is contagious! It makes me smile.

I tried

I'm not sure what I was thinking when I decided to take the kids out for a photo shoot by myself. Lily has been a little better lately about pictures, so I think I was feeling overly optimistic that I could get a least one good shot of our three kids together. Maybe even one where all of them are looking at me and smiling. Oh boy, was I way off. When we first got there, Lily was happy and smiley, and Bo was the stinker. He just kept pouting and wouldn't look at the camera. It's so frustrating because I knew I only had a very small window of time with Lily and I had to try and deal with Bo. Isn't he too old to act like that? Mason was being his usual helpful self. Thank goodness for him.

This is the only one that turned out somewhat okay. At least no one is crying in this one.

The boys were waiting on the red stool until I could wrangle Lily over to sit on it with them.

Still waiting...

Mason was finally able to lure her over with a ladybug.

As you can see, she did NOT want anything to do with sitting and smiling for mama. These pictures make me laugh.....now. It was anything but funny to me at the time.

Oh......and there's that sweet face I was hoping for earlier.

Next time Ross is coming with me.
